We Have Too Many Designated Hitters
Victor Martinez, Ryan Garko, Kelly Shoppach, and Travis Hafner (when healthy) rotate out of the DH spot in the Indians lineup.
Next year, when our lineup is healthy, Garko will regularly play first base, Martinez will catch, and Hafner will DH.
Kelly Shoppach is too good to regularly sit the bench. He’s a top 15 catcher hitting .268 with 17 home runs.
I’m not sure we can turn him into a 3rd baseman. That seems to be Jhonny Peralta’s natural spot. Asdrubal Cabrera will move over to SS.
Anyone need a catcher? I’m sure we are willing to make a deal in the off season.
